Wonder Woman 1984 (also marketed as WW84: Wonder Woman 1984) is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. This is the sequel to 2017 Wonder Woman and the ninth installment of DC Extended Universe (DCEU). She co-wrote Patti Jenkins from the script with Jeff Johns and David Colham, and a story by Johns and Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, with Chris Pine, Kristen Wigg, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright and Connie Nilsen in support. In 1984, during the Cold War, the film follows Diana when she encounters Maxwell Lord and Cheetah.
Discussions on the sequel began shortly after the first picture was released in June 2017, and the decision to make a decision the following month was confirmed. Principal photography began on June 13, 2018, and the filming took place at Warner Bros. Studios, Lewesden, England, as well as the Districts of Columbia and North Virginia in the United States, London and Duxford in England, Tenerife and Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. Islas and Almeria ended on December 22, 2018 in Andalusia, Spain and after six months of shooting. Additional filming was done in July 2019.
Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in the United States on 14th August 2020 by Warner Bros. Realdi 3D, Dolby Cinema, IMX and IMX 3D.

In September 2017, it was confirmed that Gal Gadot would return as the title character. On February 26, 2018, it was reported that director Patty Jenkins had confirmed that Kristen Wig was in talks with the studio to play the film’s main villain, Cheetah. On March 26, Pedro Pascal, who piloted the 2011 Wonder Woman television adaptation that dismissed Andelisato, was cast in an undeclared lead role, later revealed as Maxwell Lord. On June 13, Jenkins confirmed the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor via Twitter.
On July 24, 2018, Natasha Rothwell was announced to play an anonymous role. A few days later, on July 27, 2018, Robbie Patel and Gabriela Wild also joined the film, their roles were also wrapped up. In late August, Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright were confirmed to rewrite their roles in a flashback sequence as Happolita and Antiop. In November 2018, Christopher Polaha revealed that he has a role in the film.
